| I moved into an Apollo place when I first came to Japan with ECC. The location was super convenient and I didn't have to do anything to get it set up. The building was a bit on the old side, but reasonably clean, as spacious as I could expect in Japan and everything worked well. It was bascially exactly as ECC described, a decent place to get started in Japan but perhaps not a long term option depending on personal circumstances. I moved out eventually, but it was definitely a good place to get started. Quite a few other teachers moan that Apollo places are overpriced, some might be (especially the private places) but on the whole I couldn't complain. When I found my own place the rent was cheaper and there was no key money but was a 100 000 yen agent fee and I had to buy absolutely everything except a fridge and stove. There's no way I could have done that when I was new in Japan. All in all, my experience was positive, but you have to do what's best for you when you get settled. Hope that helps. |
