Anybody? Anybody?
And while we're at it - best ESL printables online? Do please however refrain from suggesting that annoying collective that requires something from all feeders at the trough....if I have to ask its cos I don't got it! and yes I teach my students to talk like that.
Thanks, all |

By far the best selection in DF is in the American Bookstore, downtown in Bolvar and nearly the corner of Francisco I. Madero.
The second time I went there, I got a Bolshie assistant who said I couldn't pass behind the counter to have a look around, so I called for the manager, who over-ruled. So if that happens to you, insist! |

Sounds good Phil, thanks, and I'll remember to be a pushy American. I suspect the clerk was somewhere right of Bolshie, however - just another resident who misses the good old days of barter and human sacrifice.
Any chance you might recall the best metro stop/bus line?? |

Metro Allende on the blue line #2.
You could also get off at Bellas Artes and walk a little. Both stops are pretty close.
American Bookstore is a good option.
They give a 10% discount to teachers, if you have a teacher ID take it. |

And thanks to you as well prof Gringo. I'll push my luck and ask - do you have any notion of how to get the fabled ID if you teach corporate only? Maybe the feds will give me a capitalism merit badge.
Bogie fans, say it so I don't have to. |

Go to a branch of Mundo Joven travel agency. They issue the ITIC cards in Mexico
( http://www.myisic.com/MyISIC/GetYourCard/CardEligibility.aspx?cardType=ITIC ).
You will need a letter stating you work for a school and 2 ID size photos. You can get the pics at any Wal-Mart, $30 pesos for 12, I think. The cost of the ID card is $135 pesos.
In fact, I need to go get a new one again. They are good from September of the current year until December next year.
It's funny that on the website they ask for a few different things to get the card. I have never had any problem geting one. Sometimes they don't even ask for ID or a letter from a school. |

Speaking of the Sierra Madre, I just read "God's Middle Finger: Into the Lawless Heart of the Sierra Madre". Fantastic read. |

thanks, throwdown - that was burning at my metaphorical lips like a hot chile belch. Thanks PG, for that highly articulated blueprint for discount heaven.
Can't wait to show someone my stinking batch. |

yes, the American Bookstore on Bolivar 23 in the Centro Historico does have an excellent selection, and yes, i always go behind the counter, you should be able to browse freely at all titles. Another bookstore I like is Delti, www.delti.com.mx, it's run by MacMillan publishers but they carry titles from all publishers, or else they will order it for you. Unlike the Amer Bookstore, they are willing to give teachers a discount, so the books are 10 to 15% cheaper at Delti. |
