.
Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has been to Cartagena? I am wondering about prices of accommodation, things to do, if there are many English speakers, etc. Anything really.
Thanks!

Well, a quick web-search brings up 4 English academies there: it might be a good idea to ring the director of studies at each one and ask about employment prospects/pay/cost of living etc...
CENTRO DE ESTUDIOS KENSINGTON SITE
C/ Antonio Oliver, 3 - bajo (Urbincasa - Ciudad Jardn). CARTAGENA MURCIA
Telfono 968 315 643
WALL STREET INSTITUTE
Calle Pintor Balaca, 8 - bajo (esq. Ramn y Cajal). CARTAGENA MURCIA
Telfono 968 089 080
NEIL GOSNEY
Academias de idiomas
Calle Manuel Wssell de Guimbarda, 1 - 3 C. CARTAGENA MURCIA
Telfono 968 120 916
NEW CENTRE ENGLISH
Carlos III, 13 - entreplanta. CARTAGENA MURCIA
Telfono 968 520 747
...there is no LoQuo for Caragena, which is not a sign of a thriving expat community, but again, probably best ask the people in the schools.

Dawn--forgive me for asking, but where exactly do you want to work ? You are posting questions for many smaller cities and probably getting little response. I have found on here that there is a lack of information about anywhere outside of the "big 3". It looks as if you are just studying a map or job ads and then asking with almost no real intention of going to these places. Sadly, I think from my own experiences that you will have to use expat sites or read wikipedia entries and get links for the ayuntamiento etc.
Perhaps you are trying to start a travel guide to less popular teaching destinations ? |

My thoughts exactly Travellingscot. In case it was missed here's what I posted in the reply in the general europe forum
"Dawn you've posted several questions about completely random places in Spain but you need to be more specific about what you want from the experience.
Money? Spain isn't the place, but bigger cities would have more oppurtunities.
Nightlife? As above. With a population similar to Galway or Limerick, Aviles will have nothing more than a modest nightlife and is hardly likely to be heaving with discos.
Learning Spanish? Smaller towns like Aviles would be fine, just avoid Catalonia as it's not the best place for learning Spanish.
Beaches and sunshine? Anywhere on the south or east coast, Cadiz, Valencia, Murcia etc"
In general terms look on loquo.com for rental prices/flatshare ads. |
