My british mates arriving in Spain in the next few months having tied a few things over here in Asia! He could really appreciate your help on a few things which I'll mention below,

First and foremost he has amarillas paginas list of schools, with which hes applying for some schools and language centres, kindy schools etc but are there any institutions that come highly recommended. Any help or feedback would facilitate school searches and applications! This info can be sent via pm or email.

Secondly, with a degree, CELTA and almost 10years exp, 3 which as a YL coordinator, how much could a teacher with this background receive? Apologies I know but a rough figure would help salary negotiations...

Is there work all year round? Can he rock up there in Oct and find work?

Where do you look for housing? How much should he pay for a shared room? Or a studio flat anywhere in town? Any recommendations on a nice hostel to stay in while he settles in...

Many thanks again,
Any replies you can pm me or better, send to the man himself

I used to live in Granada not as an English teacher so can't help on that front.

But as for places to stay much of the flat shares are advertised on telephone boxes one are in particular La Plaza de los Lobos and around the university are good to look.

Likewise www.loquo.com is good in Granada. In Granada it is cheap to share a flat so a room would cost around 180-200 I was paying 160 but that is cheap. Any room more than 200 has to be very good to be honest.

As for somewhere to stay until they get settled but its pension is nice and cheap. It is nothing flash but it's clean so if he is looking for somewhere to kip for a few nights he can try here.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for the reply! Its a great start! Once you have somewhere to crash then its much easier to get a feel for things, the ELT scene, areas to live and decent gigs, places to go out etc.

If anyone has more info related to recommended places of work that would be greatly appreciated! In fact any helpful hints for a newbie to Granada that would be great!

Thanks again
