|
|
OK, I have never even considered Indonesia tbh, but I am just about to go on a one month trip, well maybe two months f I can remain very frugal, through the apparently beautiful country of Indonesia.
So, my point? Well, after travelling I need to work. I am considering Vietnam as I have lived there before, but perhaps I should try something different.
I know nothing about teaching in Indonesia but I am very curious.
I have: A TEFL/PELT certificate(if you know what that is!), no degree, 1 year teaching experience in Beijing and 1 year in Hanoi. I have worked for some reputable companies such as Global IELTS and in reputable schools such as Beijing middle school number 4.
God, I just realised this sounds like a resume....... sorry!
Basically I am wondering what my chances are of landing a decent job with decent pay.(if they are zero, then please say!)
Oh.... and I am white, handsome and extremely entertaining and I've pretty much lived off these characteristics!(Well, they really help in some countries)
Thanks very much for your time. |

ha ha! i will bear that in mind. ive always wanted to see cairo.... not too fussed about Sarabia though..... so i guess what you are saying is that it is easy to find a decent job in indonesia?
well, would you recommend working there? if so why and which city?
what about pay for a 'decent' job, what would that be?
thanks again. |

It is easy to find a job. It is not as easy to find a decent job.
Your other questions are very general and have been asked/answered many times. Just take a look through the threads. When you have all the background information, I will be happy to answer any specific questions.

A few ne'ersayers on this forum will have you believe that all teaching jobs here are crap. This is not true, though what TP says is very true - decent jobs (decent = ethical employer, comfortable salary and conditions, proper medical insurance, treated like an adult) are harder to obtain simply because staff turnover in decent jobs is very, very low.
If more than two people have held a post within the past two years then I probably wouldn't put in for it, whatever the salary.
Also bear in mind that if I were an employer with a truly 'decent' job to fill I am more likely to pick someone who is either in country or has worked here before and I would check out his/her references in depth. |

thanks for your help. i must admit though, i love it when people reply to you and tell you to search other forums. it's like there is a whole gang of them just ready to hit you with the line: "the answer to your question can be found blah blah blah! i mean, why waste your energy even replying? your not helping me or yourself!!!........ just kidding
actually, the reason i'm not looking through threads is because i have no laptop and i am using excrutiatingly slow internet cafe computers. ok, so they arent that bad but enough to warrant my being lazy!
and im also not extyremely handsome. just handsome. |
