Hello,

I'm very interested in getting a TEFL certification so I can teach in South America. There are so many certification programs I'm not sure I can tell which ones are legitimate or not. I would like to find a local program if possible to get some classroom experience. I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area if anyone has some suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. I found this one online (http://www.cactustefl.com/tefl/course.php?course_id=3577). It would be great to hear some feedback from people who went through the training. Thank you so much.

I have just finished a course with this school in the UK, and they also have a school in San Francisco. Have a look at the website.

The other course you have posted is only an online course plus one weekend of training. This isnt the type of course that will be recognised as a valid qualification with many employers.

If you hop over to the newbie forum....you will find a number of posts relating to this type of course, and the longer one month types.

Good courses
120 hours
6 hours of practice teaching

Aren't just after the money and will fail people if they deserve to be failed.

Strongly agree.

Would add that external accreditation and assessment are a plus in my book. (Meaning simply that someone involved in the process of maintaining standards isn't on the same payroll as the school and trainers themselves.)

Best,
Justin
