I am considering seeking a job in Japan where I exchange private English lessons for accommodation, meals, access to a computer with internet and partial reimbursement of my airfare.
Does anyone know what type of visa I'll need?[/b] |

Probably the vanilla Specialist in Humanities/International Relations work visa.
Exactly who would be your sponsor, though? They'll have to provide contract, tax records, and proof that they are a company... |

This job wouldn't make you eligible for a Specialist in Humanities Visa or any other working visa because there is no remuneration, and your employer needs to guarantee you a minimum salary (not fixed, but usually upwards of 200,000 yen per month) in order to sponsor you. Documents showing that the company is actually a viable company also need to be provided.
What you describe could be done on a working holiday visa, if you are eligible, otherwise a tourist permit for 90 days/3 months. |
