Gotta agree with El Gallo, the Mexican touch on hamburgers is a nice change and would go over well in the States. Never thought avocado would do anything for a hamburger, but it does.
Generally I say that reinventing stuff is OK.. and certainly not an insult to anyone's culture... that being said, I will have to admit to refusing to eat the so-called "Hawaiian pizza"... Im a New Yorker and some things are sacred
PS I also tell my students to not put ketchup on pizza in NYC... hot sauce is tolerated. |

What bothers me about Taco Bell more than the poor quality of the food is the fact that not only have they produced a watered-down, tasteless version of a fabulous national cuisine, but that they have the nerve to think it might be popular in the country they stole the idea from! It would be like a Mexican hamburger chain exporting its version of American food to the US. |
Actually MO, I've become quite fond of Mexican hamburgers with their pineapple, bacon, ham and hot sauce. They could be a hit in the US - my preference over the universal cardboard flavored version from McDonalds. |
Some Mexican versions of hamburgers are quite tasty and could be seen as improvements on the classic burger. My objection to Taco Bell is that it's a denigration of classic Mexican food! |

Indeed. I need only mention Mexican bagels to you to get four paragraphs of expletives back.

If what you mean by "Mexican bagels" are with jalapeos... I will have to plead guilty.. if you mean that garbage in the supermarket freezer section (made by a US company) then I dont get your point.
I wont eat certain modifications, but I wont tell anyone they should not or that they are somehow evil.... If Toluqueos cannot live without putting ketchup on pizza (or bread with melted cheese), I wont tell them not to... just dont ask me to try it!
By the way... made some Thai food for the boyfriend the other day and he insisted on putting ketchup and Valentina on it! |

Earlier this week I had a bean & cheese burrito from 7-11 that reminded me of something they would sell in the States. I don't know if that would satisfy your craving, it was probably more like a frozen burrito than a taco bell-type burrito, but the cheese was cheddar. |

Oh my god, my husband does that all the time with his English roast dinners. Ketchup and hot sauce on top of the gravy!! He does it so often my parents actually keep a supply at their house for when we go over for dinner, and mum no longer gets upset about what he's doing to her speciality. |

You know, I am a ketchup fan but there are some things it just does not ever belong on in my opinion - PIZZA!.
Salsa on the other hand is a-ok for pizza (and many an other thing!) |

I had an uncle who professed to know what good food was, but he gave himself away by dowsing everything he ate in ketchup, even tomatoes! |

I had a step-sister that would put ketchup on - and I'm not joking - eggo waffles. Turned me off ketchup forever. |

And the English sauce (Worcestershire)???? God that's horrible. Why do they do that here? |

The thing about Taco Bell is that everyone knows it isn't authentic or good Mexican food, but if you grew up making late night Taco Bell runs in high school after a party, then that is what you crave. |

Ah, I remember.
Maybe a Taco Bell would be a good idea at Zipolete. |
