Hi, I'll be flying into Jakarta soon. I'm an American. I wondered if there are still visas on arrival for $25.

I'm an experienced teacher (BS in business, TEFL Cert, and 10 years of experience from kindies to corporate. What kind of bucks should I expect? I only want to teach, not do the DOS thing.

Finally, how much is a decent one bedroom in the city?

Thanks for any info.

Ha! Another potential refugee from the PRC!

VOA is still available and valid for 30 days. Visa counter is located half way down arrivals corridor on the way to immigration.

Now is perhaps a tricky time for recruitment as some employers will be holding off to see how things develop economically over the coming weeks. Forget EF in Jkt but you might want to contact The British Institute (TBI) www.tbi.co.id and try to arrange for a local interview when you visit. If you are interested in National Plus schools note that most recruit for a July start but some vacancies occur for the second semester beginning in January.

Housing in central Jkt is expensive and I'm not the best person to advise. Outside Jkt you can rent a house for 1mill per month. I pay slightly more than that for a two storey house with garden.
