Hi everyone,
I am new to this website and the whole teaching english abroad experience. I have a couple of questions.
1) I was wondering if someone could tell me the difference between TEFL and TESOL? Is one better to get than another?
2) About how much money is normal to pay for getting a teaching english certificate?
3) Is it better to go through the training/certification process at home in the US or overseas where I plan on teaching??
Thanks in advance, I appreciate it a lot! |

TEFL/EFL/TESOL are all basically the same thing. Different parts of the world tend to use different terms....but generally, I think they are all the same.
Decent courses in the UK are around 900. Thats the industry standard one month course with teaching practice, weekends courses or online courses may not be recognised with any future employers.
There are a few threads on this forum you might want to read...just look down the page as we have discussed course interviews, course experiences, and there is also a post entitled 'the reality of my pursuing a career in EFL' that may hold some relevance to you. |
