Hi everyone,

I am really looking into teaching English in Turkey. I studied abroad in Turkey 2 summers ago, and loved the country so much.

I was wondering if anyone here can give any advice to someone like me who is seriously considering teaching English in Turkey..

Thanks!!

There are thousands of pages of it here. Read some of them. Or at least make your questions more specific.

Well.. are you more interested in the safety and dealing with crooks in the teaching field here.. or safety and dealing with crooks on the streets of Istanbul? Twisted Evil

I'm also looking to start teaching English in Turkey, and I for one would love to hear about "crooks in the teaching field".

What kind of crooks are their in the teaching field?

I currently work in Korea and I have had issues with my current employer breaking my contract and cheating me out of 98 hours of OT. Not mention housing issues....

Anyways I am curious to what issues I can expect in Turkey.

I've heard all about what *can* happen - lies, broken contracts, a laundry list of other BS ranging from nickel and diming to serious theft - but I would be interested in hearing about specific places in Turkey to avoid or watch out for - for example, the Istanbul Berlitz location hasn't gotten a lot of love in these pages. If anyone has more advice in that vein, I'd love to see it.

Hi nehabibi,
That's cool that you were able to study in Turkey 2 years ago. Can you tell us more about that? Is it pretty easy to learn the Turkish language or..? What is it that you love about Turkey?

Thank you!
