You find a job where someone wants to employ you and they arrange the papers for you. |

Can I arrange the papers for myself before coming to China? That way I'd be free to seek out my own employer. |

I don't think teaching is 'a game'. And I'm not new to this 'game', just new to China. Does that make a difference? |

OP, I read your other post as well. What are you looking for? Somebody to babysit you over here as well? Your head seems a bit up in the clouds, especially when you ask a question like the one in this post. Why don't you look at Chinese Embassy websites and get the info you need regarding visas. That's what you do when you are thinking about going to a foreign country. Or at least do a search here or read a sticky. Lazy sod.
Anyway to answer your 2nd question.
Student visa......Not for you I suspect, not allowed to work)
L visa-Tourist (easy to get, not allowed to work)
F visa-Business (a bit more difficult, not allowed to work)
Z visa-Employment. You need correct paperwork from China (Letter of invitation from employer, cert from the PSB etc)
Don't forget your passport when you leave the house. |

Teaching ESL in China certainly is a game. In most schools we are not regarded as teachers but as dancing monkeys.
To answer your question. You cannot simply go to a visa office and ask for a Z visa. You need many documents from China, most important of which is the official invitation letter from a school which is more of a government issued form than a letter.
The Z visa allows you entry into the country after which you have 30 days to apply for a Residence Permit. You cannot do this without the aid of the school that sponsored your Z visa. |

Mister Al, sorry for being so silly and asking a work-related question about China on a China on-topic forum. Next time I'll ask elsewhere. Thanks for your help. Seems like China is full of some insecure people........? Maybe my head is in the clouds, but that's preferable to having it up my own backside, like yours seems to be.
Voldermort (Dutch for genocide?!?&*), you say that teaching in China is a game, well, speak for yourself. I'll be looking for work at an international school, and will command a minimum of 25,000 rmb a month. If that's a game then so be it! A well paid game.
And you *can* get a Z visa to allow you to hunt around for suitable work, you just need to know the right people.....
1.000 rmb to an employer will convince them to issue a Z; doesn't mean you actually have to work for them though, as long as it states on paper that you do then it is enough. |

as i said, troll. he asks the most basic question, that can be found in a second on the internet, or on any one of six current threads. Then he claims to be an expert

First he doesn't know how to get a z visa, then he claims he knows how to much better then any of us here does. Of course, the above is garbage, but like i said, trolling |

TD, so you do know how to get a Z visa.......and you know employers that would be willing to help you out. Why are you bothering to ask in the first place? Knobhead. I gave some advice in your other post about apartments but I am going to delete it now. |

Don't let him get under your skin. We will have the last laugh when in a few months he will be crying out for help because those people he paid to help him out screwed him over.
TD, how do you expect to land a 25,000RMB a month position in an international school when you don't even meet the basic requirments to work for EF? |

try 8500RMB
that is the price quoted to me this last summer from an agency for a RP. If I were you I wouldn't give 1000RMB for a Z as it will only get you in the country and do little more than an L (not as much in fact)....it is the RP you would want to buy, if possible as it is the only document in your passport which will give you full rights in the PRC, i.e. driving license.
And not to start a war here, but an F visa can be worked on in some situations. |

Thanks you, CJ. So how do I get myself a 'Z' visa? I want to come to Shaghai, find a nice place, take a few weeks, or months, out, and scout around for a good post an international school. It doesn't matter if I have to wait a year or two for a post, I have savings from my 8 years at an international school in Saudai. What I need to know now is whether it's possible to give oneself a Z visa. Can I issue one to myself if I am the managing director of a company that employs me as a consultant? That way I could scout around for a post and not be in any rush. I want to be able to look and roam around China while I'm looking for a decent post. I can bide my time. Or, if that's not possible, can I rent an apartment and look for a job on a tourist visa? |
