You are talking out of your backside again, and I doubt whether you have even set foot in an international school before, let alone worked in one.

Razz Razz Razz Razz

why bother? he reminds me of some of my students, the one's who know everything, thus can learn nothing Rolling Eyes

For anyone reading this that wants to know, doesn't already know it all;

the MA means nothing in China, including at true international schools (as opposed to the quasi international schools many unis now run)

speaking english is also not a requirement for many intenational schools now adays. a little sarcasm and a lot of truth in this statement

a piece of paper that says you are certified, that's the ticket

simply go to a century 21 office. usually you would have to deposit 2 or 3 months' rent but i have heard of people negotiating down to 1 month. gas and electric are usually not included. bear in mind, when your lease ends, getting your deposit back will be a problem because your landlord will likely find excuses why he shouldn't return your deposit.

If any of that was true then you'd know damn well that a BEd is all one needs for QTS in most western states, but anyway, with my MEd and my MATEFL I am *more* than qualified for a post at an international school anywhere in the world, though especially China.

Thanks you, mgafunnell, good to see that not everyone on this forum is a raving lunatic and that some of you can give advice and suggestions without resorting to silly name-calling.

Yawn. My BEd gives me QTS in the UK and thus at all international schools, though my MEd and my MATEFL also help.

Do I detect a hint of petty jealousy in your posts? What is all this garbage about quasi-international schools? Surely the sons and daughters of UK and US embassy staff and the like attend proper international schools?

I was warned about the vast majority of FTs in China being slightly weird and I am starting to see the truth of that warning. Hopefully working in an international school I'll be insulated from all these weirdos who can't even help out a little by offering some simple advice based on their experience.

How can you advise on securing employment at an international school? You probably can't even spell the two words! You say "the MA means nothing in China, including at true international schools." This is pure claptrap! The 3 international schools I've contacted over the past few weeks have all expressed *great* interest in my MEd and my MAFEL, and 1 of the schools stated they don't employ teachers without MAs. So you say an MA does not count for anything, yet the school says they won't consider anyone for employment *unless* they have one! A slight difference indeed! Now, who shall I believe........

All I see here is sour grapes!

Don't dare question my qualifications or years of experience - I don't question yours. The difference is that mine is in China, and yours isn't. I am on the ground here and you are not!

You will eventually learn that in many cases you simply cannot 'read across' western qualifications into China. I hope you do secure a position that you wish for, but don't go belittling China as you did in the last post by saying 'though especially China'. The requirements sometimes asked for here will defy all logic and understanding, even in some international schools. China, in many instances, has its own rules that are worlds apart from what you may be used to in western society. Don't take anything for granted.
