I see The European Centre is advertising again on TEFL.com. Does anybody have more current lowdown than what was posted about a year or so ago? The info I found with the help of a search was helpful, but old. Have things changed?

I'm simply looking for general information re pay, accommodation, conditions, hours, the quality of the project(s), etc.

Many thanks

The quality of the jobs posted on tefl.com is no different from those posted here.

A second degree ? How will that change anything ? Do you really believe that an MA in Applied Teflology improves your teaching ?

I doubt that there are many teachers who actually think that, but if one plans to work in the ME, it certainly opens up one's opportunities to both earn more money and get jobs with the top employers.

Shouldn't it? If it doesn't, what is the degree for? Confused

A basket load of college degrees does not necessarily make a good people person or instructor.

All it says it the person is a good professional student and can pass tests.

In a nutshell: Deeds, not words.

Some outfits think a big CV with degrees makes a good ESL instructor.
I have seen otherwise.

Hi Pikgitina,

I paid a brief visit to the offices of the European Centre near Al Fataniya Mall, Jubail earlier this year and bumped into its MD. (My glasses had steamed up due to the high humidity).

I gained the impression that the operation was fairly small at that time;but it was clear to me that the MD was very serious about providing a professional service.

Have you taken a look at their website: www.theeuropeancentre.com yet?
I reckon that the statements in its video clips provide a pretty accurate indication of this centre's ambitions and intentions.

Sorry , but I can't comment on the salary level or accommodation on offer.

You do realize that it has been going for over ten years. Perhaps there's a reason for it being smaller than when it started.

That said people say there are even worse places in Jubail.
