I am considering qualifying as an IELTS Examiner (in Australia). Is there plenty of work?

Where are you in Australia? I examine in Brisbane and the University of Queensland here is accepting applications at the moment for examiners.

That centre is absolutely swamped with candidates. The test is held there every second Saturday, more often in peak times, and I can pretty much work all of those if I want to.

Question to Marcoregano: How often is the test held in HK?

Gold Coast. Yes - that's the ad I've seen. Is it worth my while? I teach at a language school (Bond Uni) at the moment.

Is it worth your while? Financially, yes. You'll clear around $230 for an afternoon of work. And like I said, tests are usually held twice a month, although as a newbie you might not get work that frequently to begin with.

But travelling from the GC to Brisbane - it'd be well over an hour's trip with connections etc. You'd have to think if that's something you'd want to do.

There's a centre on the GC isn't there? Why don't you apply there?

Two institutes oversee IELTS examining in HK - the British Council and IDP Australia, and both of them do the examining at weekends - Saturdays and Sundays. A standard session pays between 2,200 and 2,500 HK dollars (around 300 US). There is examining going on most weekends.
