Madinat Zayed is 160 km from Abu Dhabi, in the middle of nowhere. If you decide you want to go to Abu Dhabi, you have to drive a good part of the way on a two lane truck road... sca-ry!
Shahama is 40-45 km away from Abu Dhabi, on the highway to Dubai, which is about 100 km away.
Personally I would take Shahama because of its proximity to AD and relatively easy access to Dubai.
Now it may also depend on what Cfbt is offering in each location

Are there 2 Al Shahama areas in Abu Dhabi ?
One in the city and one 40km away ?
How long would it take each dayto drive frmo Abu Dhabi to Al Shahama ?
Are there hotels and gyms in Al Shahama ? |

I don't think there is a area/neighborhood called Shahama in Abu Dhabi city. Of course I could be wrong about this.
The closest hotel with gym/beach/pool is the Raha Beach Hotel. It is about 15 minutes away. There is also a small mall with a movie theater next to it. However, because of the way the road access was designed, Raha Beach isn't exactly a quick dash. A little further away, there is the Jebel Ali Hotel and Resort. Anyway you could look this all up on google maps.
The drive from Shahama to AD corniche takes about 30-35 minutes if traffic is smooth.
