Hi Group, I have two questions. Hopefully answerable!

1. I remember stumbling onto a link someone provided here once that was essentially a database of all schools in a particular area. From what I remember, you had to pay for access to the database, but it broke down the school listings by country, city, etc. I've searched and searched but can't seem to find that original posting.

Does anyone know or remember the name of that site? Also, has anyone used it, and how well did it serve you?

2. My other question is: I will be heading over to China probably in January. My goal is to be there for the new teaching semester and find a job. My concern is how to pay bills while I'm overseas. I've been to Chengdu before (was there for about a year), and what I did was put necessary funds into an American bank (US Bank, for example) and use the automated bill-pay feature. Unfortunately, this time I think my stint in China will be for longer than that, and at some point, I'll need to use money that Im making while working, to pay bills in the U.S.

Does anyone else here have any experience doing this? Is there a way to somehow deposit my paychecks into an American bank account? How do you guys pay your bills while overseas (assuming you have them)?

Sorry for the longish post. Thanks in advance for any help!!!!!!!

-Evan

Evan, can't help you on #1, but on your second ??? what I'd do is first convert the RMB to USD which you can do with your FEC or have a Chinese person do it for you. Then use Western Union (or BOC) to wire the funds to your US bank. Naturally, you'll need both the bank transit and your account numbers. Fees vary, but count on around 2% or so.

Great, thanks for that information. I'm glad it's not too complicated.

**to the top for any thoughts from others on the mystical database Smile**
