However most of the world operates on price haggling.

It is a matter of respect...
the other night I pulled into the parking lot around the "Bus Bar" and was told by a surely attendant that Couldn't park a bike in his lot...I ask hm where I should park it.. and he just repeated the I cant park here mantra..he wouldnt answe my question ..after I got visible mad .. all of a sudden it became ok to park anywhere i wnted...

But it isn't only the Chinese who give little respect .. some of the Embassy thugs also push their black embassy plates around and i have had altercations with one from the Egyptian Embassy (now tht is a funny story) as well..but I have had to account for these incidents with trips to the local police station..and as always .. it s not that I dont like cops.. just have a better time when they are not involved..

But the trick in China is ... ...just cant go to far ....if u do .. the best thing is to just leave the country as fast as possible..dont wait to try and explain your self..

Since I have been in China for 6 going on 7 years... I have seen many Expats on their way to the emergency room... which ask for money up front while your tendons are hanging out begging to be sutured...it is best to avoid confrontations at all cost..as to a chld in a classroom... since the police will do little until a crime has been committed..(that is the way it should be) it would be wise to just act as if it is no big deal and not let the little "emperor" close enough to shiv ya...
