Well, if you're talking about a nice cold glass of beer, then surely you could get this at most restaurants. If you're in a city, you might be lucky and get it cold out of the fridge. Further out of town, they break up some ice on the footpath and add that to your beer.

Most supermarkets sell beer and the more upmarket ones (ranch etc) sell spirits and wine but that is expensive.
There are duty free shops in the city, one is near Jalan Jacksa. Most western style restaurants have beer and wine on the menu and if you get friendly with the owners of local family run restaurants (mainly Chinese run) they will stock beer in their fridge for you or send someone out to buy some for you.
Beer with ice not always nice but it makes it cold and does not really ruin or improve the flavor of either Bintang or Anker!!!

Try the Duty Free shop in Sarinah near Jalan Jacksa (sorry I forget the street name) or either the food court in Taman Anngrek or the Hero at Plaza Senaya. They may not have the product on sale but if you ask they will produce a list of stock 'out the back'. I have purchased spirits from all these places.

Or try the Mansion House locally made spirit from Tangerang. The Dark Rum is sold as a cooking aid in Hypermart and the rest can be found if you ask around.

Mind the whisky............... I think it is the vodka with coloring!!!

I get my spirits home delivered by an Indonesian lady I affectionately refer to as 'Lady of Spirit'.

I haven't tried her in the last few weeks, but if you live in central/south Jakarta, give her a call. She speaks Indonesian and the universal language of spirits.

Sniff out the diplomats hanging around the variety of higher end bars, make friends and they'll buy it for you.
