Originally this is very true and the only accepted interpretation of the word. (e.g. Q16:106)
I will not go into detail otherwise, it will distract from the purpose of this thread but contemporary use of taqqiya is supposedly described as follows:
"taqiyya (pronounced tak-e-ya) : precautionary dissimulation or deception and keeping one's convictions secret
and a synonymous term .... , kitman: mental reservation and dissimulation or concealment of malevolent intentions. "
This is what I mean when I say i suggest being cautious.
