I don't know guys, but I just got back from my first trip to Kaohsiung and frankly, I couldn't believe my eyes. I've spent the past three years living in Taipei, and based on the situation here, nothing could have prepared me for what awaited me, or rather didn't await me, in Kaohsiung. I went for the weekend with my girlfriend and spent three days travelling the length and breadth of the city. I went all over the place; I walked a lot, I took the KMRT a lot, I went to night markets, I went to Sogo, Mitsukoshi, and FE21 Mega Mall, I went to bars and restaurants (maybe not the most happenin' ones; I'm not sure, but nevertheless), and....I don't know, but, as far as I could tell, Kaohsiung is really hurtin'. I got back to Taipei a few hours ago, and I saw more good looking girls in one minute at Taipei Main Station than I did in an entire weekend in Kaohsiung.

Now, I'm not trying to beat up on Kaohsiung; I really enjoyed the trip, and my girlfriend and I both thought Kaohsiung was a cool city. We were just suprised by this one point; the apparent absence of attractive girls. I know Taipei is a much bigger city, but I've been to Taichung too, and I thought that Taichung was basically like Taipei, only on a smaller scale. But Kaohsiung, to my girlfriend and I, seemed like.... well....'The Land of Ugly Chicks.' Has anyone else noticed this? Any thoughts? Maybe I just showed up on the wrong weekend. I just find it interesting. To me it doesn't make any sense. Let me know what you think.

There are plenty of attractive women in Kaohsiung, although what I think you're seeing is a class difference.

Kaohsiung with all of its "big city" looks, is still a blue-collar town, and a lot of the people there come from blue-collar families. In comparison with Taipei which in my mind is a "world city", and has a lot more to offer as far as jobs and social status. Plus Taipei has a much larger population than Kaohsiung.

Just my two cents.

I know that Kaohsiung is smaller than Taipei, but Taichung is smaller than both, and I never noticed this phenomenon there. I spent a weekend in Taichung once and saw lots of beautiful girls, but Kaohsiung, when I was there, was like 'the land that hot chicks forgot'.

Of course, none of this really matters; I just thought it was odd. Food for thought I guess you could say.

Ferfichkin, probably the brighter and better looking people that were born in Kaohsiung live in Taipei. You don't think that most beautiful Kaohsiung women look for better opportunities and marriage partners in Taipei.

Surely you guys realize it has more to do with Makeup (Cosmetics) and Fashion Choices than actual beauty.
