Is there a good English website for planning a trip by bus or train? I just used the railpass for a short holiday and thought it was a good deal but this time I'll be staying quite a bit longer so...

Thanks.

I frequently use the timetables on www.hyperdia.com. Just click on the english tab.

Thanks for those links, but they don't seem to cover buses.

Does anyone here have experience using the Seishun 18 kippu?

I'm off down South in December but having a hard time planning the route.
I had a look at Hyperdia, but as this ticket can only be used on local and rapid it didn't seem to be much use.

What's the best way to plan journey's using this ticket? I have had a bit of a google but nothing too clear so far.

I have no meaningful japanese language ability by the way Smile

Thanks

If nobody here answers you, go to www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree and log into the Japan forum which is inside the North East Asia group. They certainly know there.

Go to hyperdia again, and when you type in your departure/arrival stations, unclick the boxes below for "airline", "shinkansen", and "limited express". This will give you only the local JR routes, on all of which you can use the 18-kippu. I have done this, it is a remarkably useful.
