Hello everyone! Smile

I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of, or worked for New Jordan International school in Wuhan city in Hub bei Province? I have been offered a great looking contract there, and I cannot seem to find any reviews for this school. Any feedback would be very much appreciated!

Thanks!

Trika

I intrviewed with them this past Saturday and I have friends that work there... They told me it is a zoo. Also they will only pay 7,000 rmb for 25 classroom hours.. You will also work Saturdays, while commuting all over the city. Tom

hmmm, they are offering me 6000rmb. I know that is not alot, but they are also providing free accomodation, free working meals, free Mandarin lessons, and a free lesson of my choice in wither tai chi, chinese hand writing, or Chinese drawing...so I think that makes up for it....

I was offered a contract for another school, and they only offered 4000rmb!
hmmmmm....

(Depending on hours)both wages are an insult.
As you can read the going wage for Jordan is 7,000 - and Jobs whould come with accomodation and many companies offer the lessons crap - they've already tried to cheat you out of a 1,000 before you've even started!!!!!!!

Folk thinking they've got a choice offer because thay'll be paid with a few classes really does drive the standard working conditions down for the rest of us - by the sum of 1,000/month in this case. Turning up in your new employment - and undercutting the wages of fellow teachers by such a sum won't help make you a very popular co-worker Idea

I think even accepting 7K is a factor in driving prices down.

I agree. 7K for 25 hours sucks!

Were you to undertake any of these activities on your own, you would be paying a few hundred RMB. Don't allow yourself to be scammed.

As for "free" Chinese lessons: you are in China for god's sake.

Yes, a sick joke indeed. But enough desperate white folk are still floating about begging to be exploited (i.e. dreaming that the "China Experience" can become a reality for them).

I, too have been offered the same deal: 6000RMB, accomdation inc. 3500 for flights (because it's a shorter contract) and free lessons etc.

I know that you said we are being cheated out of this money but I have no TEFL qualification and limited teaching experience in England. I only want to go for a 5 month contract and I have not found a better offer as most schools want me for a year. Do you still think that we should ask for more? I was offered 4500 at a middle school, asked for more and they said they'd hired someone else, dont' think that's a good tactic.

I want to start January to February so my time is running out to sign a contract if I want a working visa to go out with. Any advice?

Don't expect any more if you are only going to stay for a 5 month contract. You'd probably do better if you were to sign a part-time contract for 125 to 150 per hour.

Is this the one run by Tim and Jeff Chen from Taiwan? If so, there is no amount of money you should accept for this position. I wont elaborate here, PM me if you want.

No, well, no on my account. I have been in contact with Emily Liuson with regards to working in Wuhan, China. I have been in touch with an ex-worker and they have nothing but good words about them.

New Jordan started in Taiwan though I believe so perhaps I should know from you...
