I want to take some cash with me when I return to the UK.
To change currency:
I could go to a little man in the souk
I could go to one of the exchange 'shops'
I could go to a bank
I could change currency at the airport
I could take KD to the UK and change currency there.
Any advice on which way gives the best rate? |

i've built up relationships with exchanges in hawalli - the rates are not really all that better than the airport but they throw in some free foreign coins or iraqi bills with saddam's face on it once in a while
forget banks or exchanging in uk |

Don't take it to UK
My husband thought he was getting a good deal in a 'little exchange shop' and turned out 50 worse off than Gulf bank......
I have just changed some at Gulf bank and got a good rate- but it's going down again. Act fast |

As, miski said, don't take KDs out of Kuwait. Who would want to pay a reasonable rate for KDs abroad. I've always had a good rate at the airport exchange offices (namely, the one next to the Jazeera Airways counter; I forgot the name). I usually pass by that exchange office on my way to the check-in counter when flying out. By doing so, I avoid the hassle and chaos of Hawalli. |
