As it's been explained to me, the rule about 2 year degrees applies to all schools though, so there's a good chance that the OP could work in an urban area if he chooses.

Hi Justin, some Countries do not much care if you have a degree of two or four years to teach... However in order to teach in Korea you must have a 4YEar degree with the exception of this new Korean Gov. "TALK" program...

So no I think you are mistaken there is no other option for him to teach LEAGLLLY in Korea... of course you can easily pick up an illegal teaching job in Korea - as so many Canadians do... and come to think of it I have met Africans (not from S.A.) who were teaching at academies illegally whilst studying on a university visa... Imagine that some Rich African who getting his Masters in Engineering happily making one grand a month teaching little Koreans who fall in Love with their Kind Kenyan Daddy. perhaps those small ones will grow up and refute some of the blatant Homogeneous racism that is too prevalent in Korea. (In the USA most racist are P.C. enough not to tell you they don't like Black people) But when you are caught by immigration they may well fine you for all that illegal money you made and boot you from the country. Also, if you are doing this you might be required to have a fake diploma by your cheater boss which to me is crossing over the playing spy teacher into murdering the truth as you would assume you are putting up a facade to your students and their parents....

I myself was considering Latin America but unfortunately it is hard to find a private school job accept at certain hiring times as prep school jobs are sought after. But if you want to go the business English route you have no problem and could get to Mexico for 99 bucks on the grey hound... Mmm do they still have the 99 grey hound bus....? Been a while since I went on the L00zer cruiser ... Also to keep this post OFF topic Of K-Land I recommend you try esl teaching around your town as a volunteer first.

I would check Korea. I don't know if this will come to pass, but the most recent proclamations from the ministry of education are that, due to the increased demand, that requirement is being reduced this year.

I would just like to say Justin is now right.. And I was mistaken...

Hold a 2 year associate degree or have completed minimum of 2 years in university

I would now say do not go to Corea --- money is Dead here I think you will make only a small amount well 30-50 percent or so less at a nice job in Thailand... Cause the Korean won VS USA dollar is soooo terrible now... Whatever country you go to check the exchange rate on the salary and then decide if the culture outpays the exchange rate ... ahhh Kim Cheee sooooo delicious.... Laughing

The great question remains if you can find a job in Thailand, China or other areas sans a four year degree... mmm no that is the quandary - I am shooting in the dark here but I would guess that a private academy would hire you quickly in Thailand or China if you spoke English well in a face to face interview yet I am unsure if that would be legal or not ...? You may want to try teaching in the Congo too - plenty of money to be made there with all the affluent refuges running about screaming for mercy... Embarassed Shocked
