The only schools worth working for in Jeddah are:

* British International School of Jeddah (Continental School)
* Jeddah Preparatory and Grammar School
* American International School of Jeddah

The rest (Arab-managed and Indo-Pakistani managed) are horrible. Horrible pay. Horrible discipline. Horrible facilities and grounds. Horrible everything.

There are some other very small schools that you might want to look at as well:

French School
German School
Italian School
Greek School
Korean School

Well, the American International School of Jeddah has five Arabs (with American passport and 4 of them have PhD!) as members of the school board, and are majority! Can we say that the American International School of Jeddah is horrible because it is Arab-managed?

Come to think of it, I have heard many horror stories from AISJ in the past few years, ever since Saudia pulled out of it, and it became a community school.

If what you say is true, I would steer clear of it. Actually, even if the administration was still the same as before (American), I would still steer clear of it. I subbed there for a month after I returned from the US in March 2003, and it was horrendous. The students were utterly impertinent, they didn't listen to a thing I said, and kept on talking, screaming, and playing with a basketball during class. I don't think I have to say here where these students hailed from Wink

Here is how I would rank those 3 schools in terms of discipline:

JPGS
BISJ
AISJ

Quality of education:

BISJ
JPGS
AISJ

One other school is good to teach for in Jeddah: Pakistan International School, English Section (the one with the British system, not the Pakistani system). The discipline is good, and the academics very good. They get some of the best results in the Middle East and the world in the IGCSEs. But, the pay is bad. They offered me SR. 4,500 in 2003. I suspect it hasn't gone up much since then.
