Ah, youth, ah, nature girl. I'm guessing you're in your early twenties if you think that 35 is middle-aged. If that's the case, at 63 I must have one foot in the grave! Very Happy Since the OP said he (or she?) has been thinking about jumping into the TEFL pool for years, I'm guessing his (or her?) age is closer to middle-age (however defined) than not.

try small places, they might help with the BA, but realise you'll probably have to work there for a year or two first.

That's a good idea. Thanks again.

peru would fit your criteria.

Yeah, it seems like the only places that do are Mexico and Peru. Some of the places that have piqued my interest are Trujillo (the city of eternal spring, sounds nice) and Arequipa.

Nope, I'm 24.

Where there's a will, there's a way. But even if you never make any money from being as helpful as you are, you will nevertheless profit from it. You reap what you sow.

I actually think people profit more from altruism than they do when they demand financial compensation. It's just that the rewards of altruism are not as readily apparent as cold, hard cash.

He. (And what a he)!

Ok, I was close with the age thing, to be fair, I-m 26. There are good places in both Trujillo and Arequipa. won-t earn as much as Lima, but lower cost of living, less stress, more time, and cleanliness more than make up for it.

I agree. Like I said, I don't care about money.

Hell, I've lived comfortably in Canada on slightly more than $500 a month, I'm sure Peru wouldn't be a problem at all in that regard so long as I found a decent job.

All this, of course, is still far off in the future, if it is even in my future at all. I still have to do a volunteer stint somewhere to see if I like it, then get my CELTA, then save up enough so I can get by until I get my first paycheque whereever I end up, etc.
