Hi All,

I have done my homework on checking things out but I was just wondering if there is anyone with personal experience concerning their course content, and how creative license, such as using songs or projects is viewed by the school and students.

no kpc student i ever taught will sing songs as part of an esl lesson

keep in mind many kuwaitis are averse to music - and men and women singing together - whoa - you're asking for trouble

I taught in the 'administration area' of the Islamic College in South Thailand, and they absolutuly loved singing along with guitar 'campfire songs'.

I use drawing on the board a lot to illustrate vocabulary-
and I have taught in Indonesia(Islamic country)without offending anyone, any special tips on what to avoid drawing pictures of? i.e. rockets or melons, etc.[/img]

don't draw crosses/churches and mushrooms
also kuwaiti men might be aware of a famous arabic poem about a flower - i won't go to flowers either

No problem with songs. Used them all the time.
But no sex drugs alcohol .
Love songs ok. Really- Kuwaitis very romantic.

Each to their own .... just as people who follow most of the holy books of Torah or Bible, followers of the Quran from various countries do differ, although they should not if practising their religion correctly on the straight peaceful path.

Serious Muslim Kuwaiti Adult Employees/English Students at KPC should not participate in sessions with mixed music and female voices singing.

Individuals who have lost their straight path in religion may sway and do it, knowing that it will become an issue between them and God [Allah], even if not their employer.

There are innumerous born-Muslims across the globe who may be dong good work for this world but are lacking in knowledge of Islam, thus sing along during English Lessons, with the most vociferous. Just as erring violent ones consumed with hatred falsely purport to be basing their evil deviant actions on somethng in religion. Islam means, peaceful submission to God. God [Allah] likes not the aggressor - Quran. Basically within Islam - those individuals should not be singing with English Lessons and many should not be causing death to others.

Officially, from KPC it would probably be declined as remember they are a Government body also and overtly at least are supposed to set an approved example of good practise.

Also, nationwide there are efforts to retain Kuwait's original Islamic Culture, Customs and Traditions, avoiding a lot of changes in such caused by Westernisation.

I know that Teachers and/or Expats with questions on any topic relating to Kuwait jobs, life, people and how they may be affected locally in Kuwait by the rules of Islam, are really welcome to send any query in English and there is no limit on topics, for a reply, after hols from 14th December 2008 to the following:-

Oh an what exactly is an ''Official Ministry'' as opposed to an unofficial ministry?

I think he must really be teaching at KNES- he has developed 'driven mad by chantal' disease......he has finally flipped as thoughts of 230 end of term reports , 8 term two overviews, 6 hours of parents' meetings and a christmas concert loom over him.
Oh and he still has to go shopping for his secret santa contribution.
