Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone could help me out.
I've been living and teaching English in Japan for the last 14 months plus and my contract with one of the big conversation companies is going to run out in march (I decided not to resign). I like the school, my students, my coworkers, and even my town very much, but I'm not overly fond of the hours because they're all evening and night. It makes it hard to have a life . So, now I'm hunting!
The two companies that I found that seem somewhat legit are Interac and Dic International. Interac though still seems a bit shady and I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about them or has had any experience with them?
Also, I have been searching online for information about Dic International but I haven't found any and that makes me a bit nervous. They are offering a substantial salary and they seem really nice but they're also a company that farms out teachers and I can't investigate them online because they have no homepage or anything. They are offering me to stay at a single school and teach five days a week one week and then six the next with a five hour day on saturday. It seems fair considering the salary.
Does anyone have any insight for me into these two companies??? I would be eternally grateful!!!!

I worked for DIC before as a part-timer. It wasn't bad and they generally seemed pretty good. I was left alone for the most part. |

Thanks Alison, that made me day. Also made me spill my tea down my shirt as I was laughing so much.

Ok so DIC isn't perfect but I've heard some decent things. I'm still slightly in the dark about them but they seem pretty decent. Interac is still looking shady, but they ALL are... aren't they? Anywho, I'm looking for the best of a bad bunch basically. What company is best for farming out teachers???? Any ideas?? |

Alison, I think really there is so much luck involved with which school/schedule you get placed with and so many other factors, that at the end of the day, just go with whoever is offering you a place.
After all , after the contract starts proper, you will have little to do with the despatch company, other than collecting loot from them, maybe some training or meet. Most of your life will be in your school.
That said, many here each have bad experiences. I have no love for interac and personally I would warn others from them, but I am sure others have had ok or worse with them or elsewhere.
[on a side note, interac and others do read this boards, that has been proved beyond doubt previously] |
