This comes from a thread below.
at the moment I'm using Headway Pre-int and I am a Language Instructor. I have previously used the same book and been an English teacher.
I've also done pretty similar jobs at varios institutions and been called
The Director of Studies
The Director of Education
Head Teacher
Why the different names?
(I've been called lots of other things but that's a different thread Wink )
What different job titles have you held for teaching English?

I just think the jobs titles are a complete farse. For example, I was once refered to as a 'Foreign Language Expert and Culture Consultant'. Damn it, boi, I'm just a TEFLer, and I like it.

Whatever you call yourself, anyone whom is partically educated in the 'free' world can see through these highly transparent titles which just make the guys seem more important than they really are. Maybe they are 'compensating' for something more................<can't think of an appropriate s3xual term to go here, comments/ideas please?>

The big sounding titles are often used to cpmpensate for the lower salary. It is amazing the crap people put up with because they like the sound of their job title. "No we won't give you that raise, how about we change your job title from teacher to .....Classroom Director."

I don't think I've ever given a second thought to my job title. I do pay attention when I'm applying--I make sure my cover letter mentions the job title listed in the ad--but that's about it. I don't even know what my official title is now. As long as it says something about language/English teaching, I'm happy.
