How and Where? Teaching, yes the thought of getting out of the field of journalism where I have been for 10 years and teaching has become more appealing daily. I have a masters in journalism and have worked in the field for the last 10 years. As of now I do not have the teaching certificate. I have taught and given talks at several US universitits.

I have a 14lb Terrier who I want to take with me where ever I go. I have traveled in many parts of the world on assignments but never to Asia.
I would love to hear feedback from those of you have experience in the following areas.
And the dog thing? Is there anyplace that I am going to be able to take him along with me? He has traveled on planes and has done well. He's a Very educated little guy.
The places where I am considering at present include Latin America.
My Doubts---will they pay enough?

Middle East?
It doesn't sound fun to be a woman there and wonder if I could have a dog with me?

Asia? Sounds from those who have written here that living quarters are too small.

Feel free to refute these thoughts, correct me or advise me. Like I said I am new to this thought so all help appreciated.

It's not all that bad being a woman in the Middle East--at least in Oman. But it's certainly not a very dog-friendly or pet-friendly culture.

You shouldn't have any problems bringing your dog to Mexico, but as far as "will they pay enough?", it all depends on where you end up working and what you consider to be "enough"?

You have to realise that you will have to get shots and proof of shots for your dog in order to travel internationally .

Doing that in Mexico is relatively easy...just a health certificate within five days of travel. I've also heard of being able to drive across the border without any paperwork for a dog, though it's probably not advisable. Not sure on how it works with other Latin American countries though.

Thank you all for responding. I could have told you that my dog is from Guatemala where I lived and worked as a journalist for 10 years. He has traveled back and forth with me to and from Guatemala--so papers are done for him.

Oman has been a place that I have considered off and on. I have even considered Saudi Arabia.
Now I have heard that Mexico and Peru pay very poorly. I am still investigating their pay rates. If anyone would be willing to share their experiences about pay I would appreciate hearing.

While I love teaching I do want to be paid well enough to keep me in another country working. Please email me at flyershe @ yahoo
if you could share more. Thank you!
