What is situation with summer work? Can a rookie arrive and find teaching opportunities? And how will a work permit and ARC work for summer work? Do they give contracts or do they just hire without contracts? When is the best time to arrive for summer work? Thanks! |

Summer work (short term basis) would be illegal. In order to be able to obtain a work permit and ARC for you teach here in Taiwan you would need to have a one year contract of employment. As you would more than likely be working on your tourist visa for this work, you would be working in breach of your visa conditions. This would be a deportable offence if you were caught so proceed with care. |

Summer camps are abundant but not recommended. They generally pay considerably less for the same work as many schools.
Contracts have no significance other than to waive the few rights you have under Taiwan's toothless labor laws.
Don't be too concerned with your visa situation the locals don't seem to care. If you work without and ARC tell your employer you will pay your own taxes and not to deduct them from your pay. |
