Just curious to know if anyone out there has ever worked in Surin (Isan). I am currently employed at a school in south Thailand and am considering relocated somewhere closer to my wife's family. I would ideally like to find a job working at another public high school. So my questions are: What's the average monthly salary for public schools? Are there any universities? What are the names of some private schools? I've been teaching in Thailand for several years now and am on good terms with all of my past employers. I am pretty sure I know someone who knows someone that can hook me up with a job out there. I just want to get an idea about the ESL market in Surin before I make any serious decisions.

My wife and I have a home about 15 miles out of Surin. Years ago, I looked into teaching in Surin, but didn't find many prospects. The local high school was interested in having me but with a salary of 11,000 baht a month, I decided against it. There are a few Mom and Pop shops there and a university near by, but again, not much money.
