All:
In view of the challenges of finding affordable 1br/studio in Abu Dhabi, would you recommend shared apartment or villa in sub-letting situation?
How much does one expect to pay in such shared situation?

You would probably get more responses if you posted these questions on the Bahrain forum Very Happy

No, I wouldn't recommend sharing an apartment. If you are an adult, imagine living with someone who you don't get along with after a long day at work. Do you really want to live that way for money? I wouldn't. So only you can decide if that is for you.

If you message me, I can give you some information about renting a place that is ONLY a bed and a bathroom for 1500 dirhams a month. Living there might give you time to find another place.

While waiting to look for a place, where would you stay? The hotels are more than 100 USD per night (that's low). There aren't any youth hostels/Bed and Breakfasts etc.

Most postings I see for people to share are people wanting the same nationality. If you are a western guy, you might find it difficult to find another westerner who wants to share with you.

There is one family I know of that shares a room in a villa. They get one bedroom for their FAMILY (husband, wife, 2 kids) and the wife cooks in the bathroom (which is all the room they have). The husband is a taxi driver. They pay 2500 a month for their accomodation. Another woman I know got her shared BEDROOM accomodation bumped up to 1500 a month, for a room with another person, and so she left since she only made about 3000 a month.

Let me know if you would like to get a hold of the person I know who might help you out.

And didn't they just make it illegal to share accom if you're not related? Obviously still goes on but another thing to think about.
