I recently had a phone call from a guy under the name Tomas who received my number form an old colleague of mine. When he called, I just though he was after private classes. However, when I arranged to meet him, he told me that he could give me teaching work at the university. GReat!!!
However, things did not add up when he asked me for 50 Euros for admin costs. Furthermore, he delierately switched from speaking English to Spanish, despite the fact that I told him I didn't understand.
I thought the whole thing he was offering was unclear, so I never got in touch with him again. I just let the phone ring when he called me.
2 months later, I saw the long-haried guy hanging around in an ex-pat cafe called Bacchus. He was talking to the barman under the name Alex. I lerned the guy was a well-known scammer who tried to rip lots of English teachers off doing the same thing. Apparently, he has ripped bar staff off by buying lots of drinks and then promising to pay through their bank accounts.
I was wondering if anyone has come across this guy or anyone similar in Madrid or elsewhere. |
