So I get an e-mail from a guy who is allegedly in the UK for Mercedes to tutor his kids. Way too good a deal. But, I'll bite, he cant do anything with my diploma, I send it everyday to asia.
OK, so alleged lawyer send comtract. Wants me to sign and send.
They handle airfare, visa, etc.
What's the scam here? what do they want?

I had the same offer. What is going to happen is the guy us going to ask you to send 1,000 pounds. He will say they want to make sure that you are financially secure. They will keep your money and not give you a visa, a plane ticket.

Anytime that you have to give money to be employed or get money then it is a scam.

Well I do believe that between myself and a companion in the US Wink
we have certainly put this job offer on the scam list.
Both of us recieved phone calls from "mr Schneider" and strangly enough we both got the same contract emailed to us......
MUST ADMIT HE'S A SMOOTH OPERATER BUT NOT SMOOTH ENOUGH...
It's good to see the results when someone questions something that sounds too good to be true....
All the best for 2009 to all and keep your eyes open folks...

I received the same email. I noticed it because it sounded just like various emails written in the us on roommates.com and craigslist. They will ask for some prepayment for some bs reason later on. These scammers do the same thing for rental properties. If I could get my hand on these guys, life would be so fun.

I believe I just got a new version of the scam. Looks like he's changing his tune a bit.

Mr. Santos Joaquin for Portugal...

When i first came to the UK i applied for a similar position that was advertised on craigslist - and yes, it sounded too good to be true.
a week later they sent me a cheque that was for a lot more than had been agreed to pay me - and a message asking me to deposit the cheque, take my fees and then redeposit the rest into their account - luckily i am not gullible and i waited to see if the cheque would clear, which obviously it did not. if it sounds too good to be true it probably is Smile
