Unfortunately nothing is perfect in this world. Some find BKC okay, and some don't. It all depends on your needs and your willingness to cope with Russian ways of doing things. It does help if you have a CELTA qualification, should you wish to apply to them. But I know some contract teachers working there who have neither CELTA, nor Trinity TESOL. They have MAs in Applied Linguistics instead, I think. As BKC is a well-established school, one probably could benefit from some educational and admin support they claim to have in abundance.
Of course, it is always advisable to be careful. By the way, Jonney, is this your first time with Russian? |

The very fact that BKC bring you all the way over to Russia, take your money for the CELTA than on completion more often than not tell you to get lost should be enough to put anyone off, imho.....
In addition to this, salaries are paid half in roubles, half in dollars. Bizzare, yes (something to do with circumnavigating the tax laws, no doubt) but a few weeks ago they paid their staff with- get this- FAKE DOLLARS. No word of a lie.

One Steven Gerrard!
There's only one Steven Gerrard.
One Steven Gerrard!
There's only one Steven Gerrard.
One Steven Gerrard...
Alternatively the less convention but better song would be:
(to roughly the tune of 'let it be')
"When we find ourselves in times of trouble,
Stevie G runs past me,
Playing the game with wisdom, Stevie G,
And in my home, the Spion Kop,
We watch him jog, right in front of me,
Spreading balls with wisdom, Stevie G,
Let it be, let it be, let it be, Stevie G,
The local lad turned hero, Stevie G
And when the jubilant Kopite people,
All living in The Park agree,
That we all know the answer, Stevie G,
And although we may all be fooled,
There is still a chance that we will see,
The footballing phenomen, Stevie G,
Let it be, let it be, let it be, Stevie G,
Spreading balls with wisdom, Stevie G
And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a man that we all see,
A young, committed Kopite, Stevie G,
Playing to the sound of music,
Stevie G runs past me,
Playing the game with wisdom, Stevie G,
Let it be, let it be, let it be, Stevie G,
For we all know the answer, his name is Stevie G"
And who says scousers have no wit?

You're just good to be true
Can't take our eyes off you
You have a heavenly touch
You pass like Souness to Rush
And when we're all drunk in bars
We can't believe that you're ours
You're just to be good to be true
Can't take our eyes off you....
WE love you Stevie
and if it's quite alright we love you Stevie....
etc etc etc.

And you'll never get a job,
you'll never get a job,
a job,
a job,
with pay,
every week,
and you'll never get a job,
you'll never get a job.

Not quite right- more like....
Sign on, sign on
the dole every week
but you'll never get a job, a job
you'll never get a job.....
WHich is ironic seeing as how I am one of the highest paid people in Britain right now. Even if I am banned at the moment.
Anyway, BKC is crap. To return to the main point |

So, which language school in Russia is 'reasonable' in your expert opinion? You are one of the highest paid person in UK. Does that mean you get more than QEII? |

Well seeing as how HM the Queen doesn't actually get paid, then yes. Anyway, $100,000 a week ain't bad in anyones money, is it? And none of it is in fake notes.....
And I think Language Link pays decent money. $600 a month, free flat, flights and visas paid for qualified teachers aint all that bad. No hassles about getting paid, no having to find your own place to live, guaranteed salary. Pretty good in my opinion. And LL has no ridiculous "no private students" policy like some schools. |

So, what's the big difference between what you've quoted and what they pay at BKC? From what I've heard they are all the same. Apparently LL gives single-entry visas and BKC does multiple-entry. Well, it's wonderful how you can earn so much money now, isn't it? So, why are you so bitter still? |

Stevie..I can't believe it's really you....so this is what you've getting up to after the morning training sesions have finished.
Other players are on the Golf course,in the bookies or in the case of rather too many recent Pool signings off learning English.
But you Stevie G..powerhouse and engine of both club and country midfield have been sitting somewhere in a College/Institute patiently doing the CELTA/TESOL...
Do you approach your teaching and lesson planning sessions with the same steely determination and passion as you display on the park.?? |
