Being new to this BB, and realatively new to KSA I thought I'd drop by and say hi! and...I'd appreciate some help!
I plan to drive down to Jeddah most weekends because I'm getting this wierd urge to socialise and meet people. Some advice about places to go, where bumping into free thinking people, emancipated from the threat of spending money and not adverse to dabbling in a spot of two-way communication, might be a real possibility.
I thank you in advance,

You might join a sports/gym club, or go to some of the Friday buffets at the hotels. |

You could also socialise with people in Taif. |

Running up and down the Escarpment would certainly get one into shape - provided one managed to dodge the traffic. |

Thank you for your helpful suggestions.
Peterbear, where exactly are the Taif socialising hotspots? I'm thinking the Panda Mall, hospitals or possibly the King Fahad Mosque car park.
John, the only thing dodging will be the traffic when they see me coming up that snake Pass in my G-string Lycra suit! |

Seems like hanging out with those Al Salam bozos is the only "Gaim" in town!

The Escarpment road from Al Hada hasn't yet re-opened so nobody will be running up and down there for a while, however they are dressed

Taif is beautiful, glorious scenery but not much to do. It's pretty quiet and unless you like the quiet place, I'd stick to Riyadh or Jeddah. Even Dammam has more action (plus being close to the Causeway.)
However, if you're into trekking into the hills and exploration, this is a good place to be. |

The secret anywhere in KSA is to be self-sufficient. If you area party animal who needs a night life do not come to KSA ! |
