A friend of mine working in Nanchang had their contract terminated on the last day of the term. Their contract was for a year but the school decided that for the employee's wellbeing it would better for them to return to their home.
My friend is extremely down and I am worried. The university failed to provide my associate with a contract for the first six months. My friend returned to her home country on the last week of classes, last June to get a working visa. After returning home for two days and coming back to mark other teacher's exams my friend had a mild heart attack. She hadn't slept in a month. She was in the hospital for a week during July after the term had finished.
She recovered and the school signed her for another year. So in theory the contract ends in July not January.
My friend was in good health and passed her medical a month before having a collapse. Her health is excellent now . The school had her teach 4 hours more than the contract stipulated
So the contract says employee's must give two months notice and employers must give one month.
Has anyone dealt with this before? I tried to point out to her that it is standard to clean house when there are many new teachers coming into the school .

At first sign of an employer unwilling to abide by the contract, RUN. They're testing to see what they can get away with.

If you're friend already has a bit of experience now, plus the needed credentials (BA/TESOL, etc), finding a job in a better place won't be difficult.

Actually there is just talk of paying another months wages that would have been there if the contract hadn't been terminated. The university pays vacation wages.
