Has anyone been in the UAE and had someone fall ill (or worse ) back home? What happened? How did your employer treat the situation? Were you allowed to fly home?
Thanks!

I know of people who went home because of a serious illness of a parent or a child studying back home, but they were not gone for a long period of time.
I suspect that it depends very much on your employer (and your relation to the person who is ill).

I was at HCT (Dubai Women's) when my father became critically ill (and died after I arrived). I got the standard 10 days paid leave. |

Some HCT directors are more "lenient" than others. The 10 days paid is standard across the board, but some will allow you leave without pay. A lot depends on your personal relationship with the director (i.e. whether or not you're viewed as a valued employee). |
