What are the minimum

The UAE Academy is going through a state of flux and may not be recruiting for the future and yet it may. The housing allowance can vary according to your experience and qualifications. Job security has until now been relatively good. Pay is competitive. They did not recruit at last years Tesol Arabia as at the time they did not need anyone. Apply directly to HQ in Abu Dhabi

They have always been reasonably organized. They were late with payments only a couple of months last year. They want to become a university in the near future. |

Why would you choose the UAE Academy? There are other more worthy places like the UAE University and HCT in Al Ain. |

Sahara Desert ,
Well since you do not have your masters you have fewer choices but let me reiterate what i said on an earlier post..plus Al Ain will probably close down for lack of students..
Reasons not to pick UAE Academy
1. Salary not competitive and arbitrary- depends on nationality and who who know.
2.You will never see any HR policies.
3. Salary often late with no apologies or explanation from senior management.
4.Insufficient housing allowance. You may get offered 96000 but they do not want to pay you a check in advance - they say go and get a loan from the bank
5.You will never see any HR policies.
6. No education allowance, but some get it. You will never see any HR policies.
7. If you have a sick day during probation ( 6 months) they deduct salary and your housing.
8..You will never see any HR policies.
9.. There are no increments. But some get them.
10. You will never see any HR policies.
11.Management is unethical, completely ineffectual, actually a bunch of idiots, and HR will screw you.
The latest is that they imagine are going to become a university Laughing |

I'm just curious Zoot... but you do seem to feel that something called "HR policies" are the most crucial thing to employment. I'm just wondering what they are... I don't believe that I ever worked at a university in the Gulf that ever provided such a thing... in writing. (perhaps now some places put them on their websites) As long as I got a contract, that is what I went by...
To me... low pay and benefits and paying late would be way more important to me than a list of supposed rules that they can follow if they wish. A poor, inefficient management would feel free to ignore any list of supposed rules anyway.

This is confusing....
Some are saying that UAE Academy have
been paying on time this year and salary/benefits
are good ( if you negotiate)
and others are saying it is a bad place....
Guess it all depends on your experience.....
Thanks for all the feedback guys. |
