Good morning!

I'm currently located in Doha, Qatar. I'm interested in getting to Ras al-Khaimah (RAK) in Feb. to run the RAK half-marathon. What I've discovered is that very few major airlines fly in or out of there. I also understand it is only about an hour from Dubai. Has anyone out there A) been to RAK and B) can recommend the best way to travel there from outside of the UAE (be it connecting by bus or taxi or whatever from Dubai).

Thanks in advance for the help!

Air Arabia to Sharjah - then try to come to an arrangement with a taxi driver to RAK (and back again). Alternatively, there may be someone from Sharjah travelling to RAK to run in the same event - not sure how you could connect with them though.

I concur, doctor. RAK was my last job location in the ME and the flight to Sharjah and taxi to RAK sounds like the best way. I've forgotten how much the taxi is, as I took taxis only when it was time to fly out of Dubai--maybe Dh. 500 one-way?

Not much bargaining power on taxis in Sharjah/DXB airports. Cost IIRC was about 200 AED from DXB to RAK.

In RAK you can get a taxi (Toyota Camery) to either airport for 100 to 150 AED depending on your ability to bargain. 150 is what they first ask, and you go from there.
