Hi. Is there a a mandatory retirement age for the NET scheme? In other words, how old is too old?
And in general, in HK, what is the upper age limit for landing good jobs for a qualified, certified, experienced ESL teacher?
Thanks |

The compulsory retirement age for NETs is the same as for local teachers: 60. However, as I understand it, with permission from the EDB schools can hire NETs after 60 on a year-by-year basis, as long as they were at the school before turning 60. Immigration state in writing however that they won't issue employment visas to those 70 or over though, and the EDB will not permit anyone of that age to work in schools. |
