|

Following a recent thread, I took a look at a 'blacklist' of former employees of a much-maligned school we've discussed here. I could not believe what I read.
http://www.laughingcoyoteschool.com/coyoteweb/careeer/blacklist.html
Obviously, nobody here has ever taken these people seriously, but some of the things they've written on this page are downright vicious. Sure, there are nutjob teachers out there, but what's written on that page is libellous I'm sure, even in Mexico. Look at some of the charges...
Teacher A
-Pornography.
Teacher B
-Alcohol and drug abuse
Teacher C
-Moral Issues (moral issues? and who is judging these?)
Teacher D
-Radical Muslim Views
-Sleep disorder
- Pathological liar
-Bi-polar
-Psychological Issues
-obsessive compulsive behavior
(ok, so the school has a psychologist on staff to make these professional assessments? and listing sleep disorder?)
Teacher E
- Got a girl pregnant
- Emotional disordes
Teacher F
- Mental disorder memory disease
- Known associates child molesters in Asia
Some of what they write may well be true, but even in Mexico you need a court of law to actually charge and convict someone before making these statements, and I highly doubt that the writer on the site is a qualified doctor to make some of the other comments.
This school is at the top of the list for shameful behaviour. You read about some nasty stuff going on around the world in TEFL, but I think we have our very own global contender right here in Mexico. |

It is a train wreck I never tire of watching! Their very own website screams out "you don't want to work here, we are nuts" and is helpful along with complaints from other internet resources in discouraging anyone considering going there.
Free advice to them if they want better success in luring gringos:
Continue with their current behavior but:
1. Take down blacklist or reduce to one or two names
2. Take out the part about disclosing prescription medicines
3. When you get complained about elsewhere on the internet instead of mounting a transparent attempt to refute all of their claims, be equanimous and say something like "Yes teacher A did work for us and we were sorry to see her leave, it just was not a good fit and we wish her the best in her future pursuits."
But they do seem resistant to change which will at least be good for entertainment value. |

I wrote to the site that carries this school's advertising, requesting that they not carry their ads.
It would be a good cause to join, for the sake of doing what is right. |

Yes they are totally unprofessional and completely crazy, but not crazy like drooling on yourself and such, crazy like fundamentally delusional with a mean, spiteful, and vengeful attitude.
I went through their month of 'training' and took off. Now my name is on their blacklist... like it's going to affect my future...
Still, if screwing them over in any way or otherwise hurting their business is a possibility, I'm in. |

Replies from that school have resulted in serious flame wars requiring the moderators to step in and do major scolding of posters and deleting of comments. On several occasions, entire threads have disappeared. In the long run, locking the threads was probably a prudent thing to do on the moderators' parts.
Look here for an example: http://bbs.oaxaca.com/read.php?5,63689,63689.
Also, an interesting post about the blacklist was put up on an outside blog this week: http://garydenness.co.uk/2008/12/laughing-coyote-school.html .
That's all. I'm outta here before I say something that'll get me in trouble. |

So, are you the one with the 'mental disorder memory disease' or do you simply have 'radical Muslim views'?
On second thought, don't answer. |
