Has anyone had direct experience with, or heard anything about Foshan Lingdong Language School?
I have only been able to find one review about the school (which was a negative one).
They have sent me a contract to review, but as I am a first timer, I'm not sure what questions I should be asking them.
One point in the contract that I did think was a bit odd was that they stated that they would require a deposit of 5000RMB from me in case i breach the contract. The deposit isn't directly paid by me but actually deducted from my monthly salary at a rate of 1000RMB per month. It is stated that this will be reimbursed to me at the end of my contract if I do not breach it.
Is this typical?
Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

Such deductions of deposits are not at all 'normal' and I for one would think they are actually illegal.
I have no direct exposure to Lingdong but have seen their ads a number of times over the years. In my humble view you should give them a miss as this is a training centre that will loan you out to other, perhaps public, schools. That is a questionable practice on the legal front here but it's common enough. It means your job will entail frequent visits to new customers and be their tutor for a limited period of time. The time you spend on your way to their premises comes off your spare time.
Actually Foshan doesn't seem to have many legal employers; those that I do know have a twilight reputation. |

They're going to hold that over your head like a sword and force you to endure a bunch of crap.
Don't do it. |
