Got option E. none of the above BTW flatshare will not always save you money. I know a guy who wanted to save and got 2 roomies in a 3 roomer. In less than 3 months, they were all at each other's throats and when my friend found a place of his own, it was cheaper than the shared flat! |

Too true. But there have always been a few normal people who just end up there for some reason and find they like it. If you read "Peter the Great" by Massie you see the place was full of ex-pats as soon as Peter opened it up. Look at english house in Kitay Gorod.
They didn't live there for years at a stretch only because they liked the fur trade. |

Thanks for mentioning it.....I understand why the place has a certain weird fascination for some foreigners, although I wouldn't want to live in Moscow long-term because of the environmental pollution as much as anything else!It really is an unhealthy place and I have seen this confirmed in official survey reports,as well as by a Russian doctor who is a close friend of mine from Murmansk up in the frozen north.....Every time he took his children to Moscow for even a few days, they were ill with either chesty colds or dermatological problems and other colleagues of his told him confidentially that the ecological situation is chronic in Moscow, but that they had official instructions to play it down, for obvious reasons.Of course other world capitals have similar problems,Bangkok and Mexico City being two I know of,but in Moscow you have the unstable temperatures in recent years and often cold and damp climate to contend with as well... |

Anyone ever try flatmates.ru??
I needed a flat last year while I was on vacation in Moscow and got some pretty promising leads...
Thankfully my friend came through with a free flat for the month , so I never had to follow up...
Just a suggestion, though... |

Google Russian Girl Friday or Uncle Pasha - either one of them will help with accom, or act as interpreters (well Uncle Pasha will if he's feeling sociable) |

Finding appartments in Moscow has always been a headache, even for Russian people:although prices dropped around 30% last year due to the recession,it is still a hassle and they are not cheap, especially on what an average teacher makes.Agencies that deal with foreigners generally only have over-priced flats in expensive areas |
