Can anyone recommend a good hotel in HaNoi? I will be taking the CELTA course in HaNoi in Feb/Mar with Language Link. I would like a place walking distance to the course location (believe it is the Old Quarter).

Requirements: Walking distance to LL, clean, as quiet as possible - don't laugh. reasonable price - great if discount for 4/5 weeks.

LL does recommend a hotel (World Hotel) but is seems a bit pricey from what I have read on Dave's and does not offer a restaurant(breakfast) on site.

Any recommendations? Thanks.

Hi. Language Link has four schools in Hanoi. The one where the CELTA is run is on Dai Co Viet Street, which is a good 30-minute walk south of the Old Quarter. You can trust that the school would recommend decent lodgings, they wouldn't want the students to be unhappy. From the OQ it will take about 12 minutes on the back of a motorbike taxi to get to Dai Co Viet and will cost about 20,000vnd, just over a dollar each way. If you want something within walking distance, you can look for places down in that part of town, but the choices are limited compared to the OQ. The best option, if you have the time, is to arrive a week before the CELTA starts and scout around for a place that suits you. Folks at LL would be happy to help you.

Thanks Inky,

I think I will go ahead with LL's suggestion of accommodation. Unfortunately I have no time before the course as I finish work in Korea on Fri, Feb 13; fly to Vietnam of the 14 and the course starts on Monday.

Unless anyone knows of another option?

go to Tam Thuong street, its a narrow alley way off of Hang Bong street in the old quarter. My first recommendation is the Tung Trang Hotel. Second choice is the Manh Dung guesthouse. There are others on Tam Thuong which may be as good but I haven't stayed at those ones. You can't miss with Tam Thuong street. Cheap food there too. Every night about a dozen houses on the alley sell nem chua ran (fried meat on a stick). Its good and cheap. Go to the Tung Trang Hotel in the heart of the old quarter.
