Hello everybody!

I'm newly tefl-certified and starting the job-hunt. I'd like to buy a good coursebook, preferably one that is very popular, just to get familiar with it and hopefully get a headstart while I wait for a job to come through. Any suggestions?

Headway? Shocked John & Liz Soar's wildly popular series...
Sorry, couldn't resist.

The types of preferred coursebooks vary by region and teaching context. I am not sure anyone can say what is a good general coursebook for any/every teaching context!

So glad you didn't reseist the temptation. Actually, I've read a lot about Headway. I'll check them out!

I have questionable morals.

Check torrent sites like Mininova for packages of ESL books that have been scanned by other teachers. I downloaded one that was about seven gigs and it's got maybe two or three hundred books in PDF format. It has the entire Headway series, the Azar grammar books, and a few other good ones. Then lots of crap.

Please don't tell on me.

Hello Jetgirly,

My lips are sealed. I'll check out your suggestions.

Thanks

Dear all,

My morals are beyond question. But if they weren't, I might use megadownloads as a site that textbook samples could be found at.

Best,
Justin
