Thanks to anyone who can give some info on this:

My sister's looking into teaching in Italy, but she has no BA degree. She's been looking into seriousteachers.com/tefl and they say their TEFL Cert costs $185 and she doesn't need a BA to teach for a summer position. They also talk about a $585.00 programand say she needs an EU work permit.

Anyone know of this company? Does this sound valid? My degree alone has always been enough to teach in Asia, and I have never taught or tried to get a job in Europe.

Cheers

When you say $, do you mean US or HK? Why not euros? But whatever, it sounds very dodgy - the certficate must be a joke and money up front is always suspect. If she has an EU passport the latter is certainly a rip off.

Just before signing p for a Cert TESOL or , well a piece of paper which says cert. TESL or similar, check the number of contact course hours, number of hours of teachign practise, then do a search for any comments by thier previous course attendies.

At the end of the day, the cert. SIT, RSA CELTA, and Trinity TESOL , and some approved by the College of Teacher's UK are the most valid and recognised of course any cert. from an accreditied and well know university too.

I think you will find the Dave's section of Teacher Training will have a thread somewhere about this course provider.
