I imagine that this topic may have cropped up before, but as time has passed, I wonder who wins the-most-travelled-tefler award? It certainly won't be me...I can only claim 4....England, South Korea, Hong Kong and the Czech Republic (though the latter was only for my CELTA, so maybe doesn't really count). |

You already beat me Marco. I have 3 under my belt...Canada, Japan and Hong Kong. I think it will stay as 3 for a long while as well. Quite loving Hong Kong. |

I won't win any awards either--I've taught in four. Czech Republic, US, China, Japan.

I am 24, have been to seven countries including my own, and taught in 3-Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.
Unfortunately, some employers mistakenly think that I am on an Asia tour due to my age and the number of countries that I have taught in. |

A more sensible3 question wouled be: who has staid put the longest as a TEFLer?
That guy is likely to have earned enough to travel in tourist comfort and enjoy more countries than the itinerant TEFLer. |

I've taught in four so far - Japan, Canada, Korea, and Australia. I'm in Canada now, and will go to the UAE in a few months to teach at a uni there.
I'm a newbie to this forum, but I've posted a bit in the UAE one. Greetings, all. |

Well, I'm at the bottom of the food chain. This is my first in China, Korea is 98% for next year, and then, well, what does the future hold. Does anyone know what God 'o' Dave has done?

Kaching,
I think I know you. You recommended a hair salon to me one time, or something like that.
Did you work in a teeny, tiny, Korean town at one point?

My list:

Korea
Malaysia
Thailand
Hawaii (Yeah, it's in the USA but it feels like another country)
Now in New Zealand
so that makes six so far. |

In nine years of teaching, I have only taught in three countries: Korea, Saudi Arabia and Thailand. Surprisingly, SA was not my least favorite. |

Chi-chi,
I used to work in Sunchon. Not exactly teeny tiny, but not an urban centre either.
I have spent *way* too much time finding hair salons. Sigh. |

During uni, I did short term stints in Venezuela, Taiwan, and China. But I don't think those count. I'm in China now, but will be leaving in the summer.
I thought there was someone who had taught in 11 countires in 16 years.
Scot47, Roger, and Rogan have been around for a while, maybe they have a lot of countries. |

I started in 1984:
Saudi Arabia
Indonesia
Egypt
Korea
Taiwan
UAE
France
Oman now.
I used to go home, spend my money setting up, and get bored and/or broke within 6 months, and then go out again within another six months. The last time I left, I decided to save my money and not keep going back. That was going on 8 years ago (I visit some summers). I'm glad to have missed most of the USA's PC time, politically correct, because I'm not very good at that, although I can survive in police states.
Well, maybe I started way back in graduate school - I'm a Canadian by 2 years - a masters from UBC in Vancouver. |

I won't win any prizes, but I'll throw in my ESL-teaching countries:
1. Korea
2. China
3. Taiwan
4. Qatar
5. Morocco
6. Japan
7. Saudi Arabia
Best Regards,
